Recently Ja Morant sat down with Malika Andrews and was asked if there were any teams that he looks at and feels he has to go through and he said with a smile the Celtics. Malika then replied "nobody in the West?" Ja then confidentely said "I'm good in the West". Hey man I respect confidence but come on Ja you're good in the West? The Grizz are a talented team for sure but haven't had the playoff success to be talking this crazy. Since Ja has been in the league the Grizzlies have failed to reach the Western Conference Finals. The kind of talk the Ja was doing should only be reserved for champions. Not even champions talk like this because winning a championship is hard. So many things must go right for you and on top of that you need a little bit of luck. Until Ja and the young Grizzlies have climbed the mountain it's going to be hard to respect that kind of track talk from them.

Ja has a right to be confident not cocky. He has turned himself into one of the best players in the league and a top five point guard in the league. Ja is averaging 27 points 6 rebounds and 8 assists. He's amazing and his supporting cast is pretty good Desmond Bane has become one of the best shooters in the league averaging 22 points a game and shooting 39 percent from three. Dillon Brooks helps out by scoring and being a pest on defense averaging 18 points a game. Tyus Jones is clearly the best back up point guard in the league right now and last year played big in the playoffs. For the Grizzlies to take that next step there going to need Jaren Jackson to step up and be more dominant because he is more than capable of doing that.
Like I said Ja and the Grizzlies should be confident they have a great team and could win the championship. A lot of great teams in the West that Ja has disregarded clearly because the Grizzlies are 9-10 in the West and immediately after Ja did all that talking the Warriors took care of them on Christmas without Steph. Come playoff time its grown man football time to put up or shut up and the basketball world will be paying attention to Ja and the Grizzlies lets see if they can rise to the occasion.
